Acanthus: Enduring Life, Design

Native to the Mediterranean, acanthus is a plant of symbolic reverence. Used extensively in ancient Greece and Rome, the acanthus scroll is an engraver’s tried and true mark.

A History Of Acanthus Design

You’re likely familiar with acanthus designs even if you don’t know the name. These decorations have been used for centuries.

Adorning the intricate works of Greek and Roman pillars and architecture, these motifs have endured over human history.

Borrowed by the Europeans for ornamentation on body armor and arms, and even seen in later architecture of the Renaissance and later revivals.

Acanthus Decorated Postcards

As you’ve browsed my artwork, you may have noticed a pattern, or several. A tried and true design, the acanthus scroll, is a testament to my education and perseverance in metalsmithing and engraving.

This is a design many engravers and smiths learn early on. The intricacies of the leaves and scroll are perfect for learning and appreciating the craft of engraving.

These designs are near and dear, and I wanted to create a way of sharing them with an even larger audience.

These postcards are a perfect way for you to collect my work and share it with friends and family.

Collectible, Artist Made Postcards

These collectible postcards serve as an extension of the design work I employ on new and pre-existing pieces. The acanthus patterns are great for applications beyond engraving.

A great way to show your appreciation for an ancient, handcrafted technique, these postcards are great collectibles, small gifts, and stocking stuffers.

Showing off your custom-engraved jewelry with family and friends is a great way to spread the word, and now you can share a small piece directly with them so they’ll remember the name.
