This is a recreation of the Kings Sword found at Sutton Hoo. Fabricated from Copper and gold plated, the amazingly well preserved garnets from the original are represented with gemtone epoxy enamel. And while the organic parts of the original no longer exisit, I used ash wood and bone for the handle and guard. There are several compromises made here from the historical, but it is intended for regular use in living historical recreation events and choose materials that would stand up well to rough treatment.

I am often inspired by the master smiths of history. Their attention to detail even with the lack of modern magnification and industry is often awe inspiring. If there is a particular piece of history you would like to recreate I would love to hear about it.
